Cucumbers are here

While I was gone on my trip the cucumbers really went to town. I was surprised to find so many.
This was my healthy lunch today. Tomatoes with basil, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. My vegetables for my hummus dip, brown rice, lettuce salad and plums from my neighbors tree. Some ice tea to drink. Just enough to keep me happy.

The Blouse is Done

This is the blouse I was working on. I will be wearing it at my brother's daughter's wedding on Friday night. I leave tomorrow to fly to Minnesota for a week.
This is the front and I can see that I forgot to button the last button. I think it fits pretty well.
This is the back and I can see that the label on the black camisole that is under the blouse is showing. At least these are things I can look for when I get dressed for real.
I like the way this sleeve drapes. It covers the hanging arm and it looks nice too. I am taking my IPad with me, so we will see how well I can blog with that. I know from experience it isn't the same as having your computer with you. I am looking forward to seeing my family again. One of my sister's sons bought my Dad's house and they are anxious to show me all the work they have done. They are very good at it, so I am sure I will be impressed.

A New Purse to be had

Starting to begin getting some of the things done that I have started sometime ago. I love doing hand work, so I was happy to get busy doing this one. I have made this purse before. I enjoyed putting some old lace on, a polymer clay face, some buttons, beads, quilt stitching and I practiced embroidery stitches from Judith Baker Montano. I love her books. If you like to embroidery you should take a look at her books. She has a app that you can down load so many stitches for a price.
This is the pattern that I am using.

Paris Beads

Finally having time to take a look at the things that I brought back from Paris. These beads were made by a Paris Artist and I liked the colors and the way she strung them. This is my version using her beads. These are colors I wear a lot so they should fit in to my wardrobe very well.

Blouse

I signed up for Sandra Betzina's bias class with Craftsy on line. This is the skirt pattern she is using. I liked the blouse and decided to try it. I made up a muslin and am working on the adjustments I have to make to cut out the fabric. I like the way the skirt looks and will follow her instructions with that one soon.
Since this is a see through fabric I think I will use black silk organza for the interfacing. I am trying to decide what to wear under it. I have a black bra, but I think you will see that it is a bra. I will have to see when I get it finished. We are having a heat wave like most of the country and so I can't go out in the garden until later in the day to water, so sewing is what I have been wanting to get to. Now I have a nice slot of time.
