Jacket and Pants

I have been working on a new jacket and pants. The pattern is one of Marcy Tiltons.
I began by getting out all of the things I had in my stash that would go with this lime green linen fabric. Also some fabric that I had dyed.
I cut out squares of my dyed fabric.
This is the pants with dyed fabric trim and embroidery stitching.
The jacket once it was completed. If you click on the pictures you will be able to see some of the detail.

Pole Wrapping Class

Today I had a class on pole wrapping. First we took a silk scarf, after soaking it in soda ash and put it in a plastic bag and then procion dye is added and some vinegar. It is put in the microwave for 3 minutes. Then rinsed out in water. Ironed.
Now to wrap the pole with the scarf. Tape the tip of the scarf to the pvc pipe and begin wrapping string or dental floss around the pipe. The scarf is wrapped around the pipe at somewhat of a angle.
Wrap the string around for a distance.
Then push up the scarf and then wrap some more string. Continue wrapping with string and pushing the scarf up to the end of the pole.
Make sure you remove any tape that is on the scarf as the dye won't dye there. Now soak in soda ash again and begin the dying again. Add vinegar and then bag it up for 24 hours.

Marcy Tilton and Diane Erickson's Workshop

I very excited as I will be attending the DOL workshop with Marcy Tilton and Diane Erickson in Santa Barbara on January 31st for four days. The makings for this bracelet were sent to me the other day. These were all pieces and you were suppose to invent/reinvent(the name of the workshop). It will be fun to see what the other attendees did with their piece of fabric.

Rain is coming

Worked in my garden today and got everything ready for the rain that California is suppose to get. Sounds like it could be a week to two weeks worth. I bought four packages of different kinds of poppies and put them in. My plan is that when the rain is over they should be showing their heads.

DC at NIght

My brother lives in Washington DC and took this picture. I thought I would share it with you. I thought it was outstanding.
I am still working away on my quilt and breaking things up with some gardening.

Shibori

This is a piece of cotton that I tied rocks all over and then dyed it with safari grey. I really like how it came out. It has some turquoise that showed up in some of the circles. I wouldn't say that it looks very grey, but the brown looks nice.
