Vogue 1521

I really like the neck on this pattern. I used Marcy's fabrics and really like them. I didn't do the layering that the pattern calls for as I didn't have enough fabric, but I like how it turned out.

Another Ebony Shirt

I really like the way this one turned out. I shorten this one 2 inches.
Still on a roll doing T-Shirts. Will have some more pictures soon.

More T-Shirts

Now that I know how I have to change the pattern to fit me, I am busy using the patterns that I have and using up the knits for shirts that are in my stash. I am do for some new shirt now anyway.

I like the style of this one. I will probably go back and do a different neckline next time.
I really like this one. This is the tunic the length that the pattern calls for.

This one I had to cut off four inches at the bottom because I ran out of fabric. I also had trouble deciding what was the right side and realized that I had chosen the wrong side to be outside. I had already sewn most of it and didn't feel like ripping it out, so just did everything with the serger and on the outside. I like the different look it gave the shirt. Our mistakes can be a good thing.
I like the raglan sleeve on this one. The shirt is really comfortable.

Another T-Shirt

This is my third t-shirt in working on coming up a good fit. I had to adjust the darts a little more and shorten the length.  I think I have it as close as I am going to get it. This fabric was a fun one. I hand painted on silk this design. Then sent it into Spoonflower and had it printed on a organic cotton jersey knit. The fabric on the print side is somewhat stiff, but the part that is next to the skin is soft. It has nice stretch, so I could accomplish the neck band.

McCalls6964 T-Shirt

I decided to see if I could get a basic T-Shirt to fit right. I used this pattern. I used view B. This is one of Patti's patterns, so the adjustment lines are on the pattern. It makes it easier to take on this project.  She also explains how to adjust the pattern. I used a size sixteen with my 40 1/2" bust measurement.
I did the neck binding like the pattern said and it turned out with gaps. Next time I will do the way that works for me.
It looks like I can let it out a little more through the hip area.
I bought Patti Palmers most recent update on her fitting book.
I tried the bust adjustment by adding a 1". It made the dart a little big so next time I will shift some of the dart to the armhole. I also lowered the bust dart too low and will raise it on the next one. I also made the dart too long and will make about 2 1/2" from the apex.
I also did the adjustment for a wider sleeve of 1 1/2". The sleeve was still too tight, so I let out the side seams 3/4" on both the sleeve and bodice. I will be making another shirt with the changes and see how it looks.

Sewing Workshop Cottage Shirt

I enjoyed using my South African fabric to make this shirt. It is a short shirt and has openings on the sides, so you have to wear a shirt under it. I put on a tank top and it worked well.
The lime green fabric was waxed South African fabric and all 100% cotton hand dyed. Their fabric is very high quality.

Sewing Workshop Tremont Jacket

I made this jacket from Raw silk and then trimmed it with some wax African cotton I got on my trip to South Africa. I had to draft my own pattern pieces to put on the trim and pockets.
I made a small. It is a little fitted in the waist. I had a knit tunic shirt that I had dyed and made some time ago and it matched the colors of the trim. It also hung down below the jacket to add a little color.
I like this jacket and would make it again.

StudioKat Designs-Purse&Porta-Pockets

Truly enjoyed making this purse. The directions are very good and the online tutorial is very helpful.
On the front and back of the purse I used one of my ice dyed fabrics.
This purse has so many pockets and zippers that I thought it would work really well for a day pack for my South Africa trip, which I leave for this Saturday.
This will be a great organizer for any of my purses. Just use the ones that fit and you will be able to find that thing in the bottom of your purse.

Jackets and Pants

Absolutely love this pattern. It is drafted so well. Enjoyed being able to order the zipper and all the snaps from Closet Case as a kit. I have never done the snaps before and they came out really well.
I used some cotton home deco fabric that I had over dyed some time ago and it looks very nice. The sleeves, collar and pockets is one fabric and the front and back is another. The over dying made the fabrics coordinate well.
I made this for a light weight jacket that will work for my future trip to South Africa. I call it my elephant hunting jacket.
I will make another one of these jackets again.
This jacket I used a heavy linen and a stretch cotton. I lined it with silk.

Because I am short, you can see that I had to cut some off of the bottom. I made should of balanced out the black panels a little more.

I love this pattern too. The detail was fun. It is very well drafted.
I used a cotton stretch terry knit and it is so comfortable.

The detail on the back of the legs asked for interfacing and I didn't realize that the facing would show when you cut the slits. I would have used black interfacing.

Another Picasso Top

I liked this top and made another one. I used Alabama Chanin Organic cotton by Linda Lee. She had the colors coordinated and presented it as a kit. The pants are the same pattern that I made previously from The Sewing Workshop. Alabama Chanin fabric is usually used double layer for the Alabama Chanin garments. This is the first time that I have tried it single layer and I think it doesn't hang very well. I have some organic cotton that is heavier and it works up much better singlely.
