A New Vest

This is what has been taking up all my time. I attended Rosemary Eichorn's workshop. She is a excellent teacher. Makes things very understandable. I had had her book since it first came out and was always going to make something out of it. Well, the opportunity finally came along and I couldn't pass it up. Laying out the vest took the two days of the workshop, but the real work was the free motion which took me a week. I hadn't done much free motion before. Now I feel that I have a lot of practice.

I featured mostly my dyed fabrics for the background.

More Dyeing

Did some more fabric dyeing. This piece was done in two steps. First Golden Yellow and then Rust.

This one was the best. Used Raspberry and Tangerine.
These didn't come out very well and they were using the same Tangerine and Raspberry.
Above and below was Lilac and Chinese Red.

More Fabric

Another piece from yesterday. This is Safari Grey and I tied river rocks in it.
I like the effect. I think I will try some other colors and see what I get.

Dyeing Fabric Today

Have all my glasses setup and waiting to get to see how it turns out.
This one was a little different. Bronze and Lilac. I like the way it turned out.
This one was spectacular. It is Black and Tangerine.
I was going to sell these, but I think I will save the above one.

Back from Workshops

I am back from Mary Tilton and Diane Erickson's retreat in Santa Barbara. This is me with all the things I thought I should take with. Never have gone before so I was not sure what to take and I wanted to be sure to be prepared. It is a good thing that I had the car to myself, so I could fill it.
These are some of the women working on their projects. The women in the blue shirt on the right was my roommate. We had a nice time together.
This was a very inspirational retreat. The women were very willing to share and it was very interesting to be surrounded with such talented wearable artists. We wore something different each day that we had made. When I finish my project I will put a picture on the blog.

This retreat was over on Thursday and then on Friday I went up to Atascadero and attended a workshop for two days with Rosemary Eichorn. She is such a good teacher and explains things so well. I worked on a vest in her collage method. I will put it on the blog when I get it done.

I am pretty tried out, but very happy to have had so many new ideas come my way. It will take me a long time to use them all up.
