Today is it

It is my 70th birthday. I have been having such a good time celebrating. On Saturday my family took me to a local dinner show. We saw Bye Bye Birdie.
My husband flew in on Saturday so he could be here for my birthday. We are going to a nice place to eat tonight.

Creative Juices

Decided to look to see what magazines they have to keep my creative mind busy.
I have never seen SewNews before. It is a a pretty basic magazine. I guess I like more high fashions. enjoyed the Beadwork Magazine. Had some interesting ideas.

Almost Done

This is my sister Mary and she is excellent in setting up for our estate sale. She arranges things so attractively. My sister appreciates vintage things, so sometimes she has a hard time letting someone else buy them. But this time God has given us enough things so we can share with others.
Mary's husband Todd has been so supportive to the sisters. He made many saw horses and put pile wood on them so we had many display tables.

We look at some of the old mixers and blenders and realize that they do not make them like they did then. Our estate sale is in two weekends and we will be happy to have it over.

A Long Friendship

Here are my long time friends. We went to high school together.
Leslie and I went to grade school and did just about everything together.
Then Judy moved into our area and we became a three some. Leslie and myself turn 70 this month and so we were celebrating today at lunch. Judy turns in December, so she is feeling quite young yet.

Last week I attended my high school reunion and was surprised that we all looked so old. To the point that I couldn't figure out who most people were. One of the women told me what her name was and I said oh, you were in my wedding and she said I was? Then she asked what color were the dresses and I told her and she said I like that color. Someone told me later that she had had a stroke and bypass surgery, so that could explain the memory loss. I did see one of my old boy friends. It is kind of fun to see what maybe you missed out on. So you see this visit to Minnesota is visiting many memories.

It is Done

The truck came today and removed the full dumpster.

 A job well done.
Sure glad to have this behind us.

A tear was shed today thinking this was my parents material life leaving.

Thompson Park

On Tuesday it was such a beautiful and warm day. Since I know that these days are going to be gone soon I met one of my sisters at the park near my Dad's house to take a walk.
Remember this is Minnesota and it has 10,000 lakes, so you don't have to go far to find a lake.

 Here is me.
Here is my sister Roxanne.

Geese and ducks enjoying a swim.

A Surprise

Now this is totally amazing. The squirrel on the left is totally black. The squirrels here are usually grey like the one on the right. I have never seen one of these before. The man sitting across from me in the library today pointed it out to me.

Library

I am at the library again doing the internet. Just wanted to show you the view from the window again. The last time I took a picture from this window you couldn't see the lake as the leaves on the trees were still pretty thick. All the stages of fall are so pretty.

We are full

Well it looks like we have filled the dumpster. Now to work on the set up of the estate sale and pricing.
A tree of our neighbors. Just looking so beautiful.

Stillwater, Minnesota

These signs of fall in pots are in a small town in Minnesota called Stillwater.
I like the way they use decorative cabbages in their arrangement. My Dad used to plant these in his garden every year.

Brickyard Trail

When I was growing up we lived a block from a park called Cherokee Park. The name was after the local indians. I used to hike the trails and find arrow heads. Don't have any of them any more, but it was fun to be able to find them then. It was a warm day of 70 and I knew there wouldn't be many of those left, so I wanted to see if I could remember the trails. A friend that lives across the street from the park suggested that the trails weren't hiked much any more and not clear and that I should go up to the top of the park and follow the new trails put in by the city.

I got to see of the leaves turning too.

Here are some of the stones that are left over.

Here is the city of St Paul looking down on the Mississippi River.
I used to find fossils too.
As you scale down the bluff you pass the brick oven that they used make the bricks for many of the buildings in the city. I think that is the charm of this area with their brick buildings.

More Pictures

Sharing some more pictures from the Textile Museum.

These were dollies and old dresser scarves that were dyed.

Then we went to a fabric store in St Paul that was having a 20 % sale. These were my purchases. Of course, I wasn't going to buy any fabric as I would have to transport it home. It just is part of my heart.

The Textile Museum

A friend of mine and I visited the Textile Museum in Minneapolis today. What a joy to my heart. I needed a break from the dust and mold in cleaning out the house.
Here we were able to look through the window of a dyeing class.

I will put some more tomorrow. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
