This is a sample from Karen Sistek's class. Two of us that had attended her class got together the other day and it was surprising how it took two of us to remember how to do the technique without the teacher there.
This was a wax batik done in Sissi Siska's class.
I always like to save everything, so I dyed the pieces that were left over with the left over dye. It will come in handy on future garment. I also hope to put together a garment using the samples one of these days.

Sissi Siska's Class
These two were samples of batiking.
This one was with a resist applied to the silk and then painted with dye and a sharpie pen.

More Painting
This is the poppy that Karen was painting for us today. A lot to learn. It is always so exciting to learn different ways to do things.

Santa Fe
I left on trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico to attend a International Silk Painting Conference. This is some pictures of my first class beginning this morning. We are stretching our silk on a frame.
Here we are out side spraying our silk with magic sizing starch which acts as a resist when we begin painting with dyes.
Our teacher is Karen Sisstek and she has just shown us how to paint a iris.
This is a newspaper picture of a dress that we are hoping to paint once we have learned what this class is teaching us which one of the students brought along to inspire us.
This is the beginning of a poppy we will be finishing tomorrow.
