Enjoying

I wait all year for this catus to bloom. It makes a real statement.
One of my minatures. You can see some of my apples at the top of the picture. Sometimes I love to loose myself in this minature world.

Visiting Gardens

When you are a gardener I think most gardeners like to see other peoples gardens and what they have done with it. This is a garden near my house that I walk by often to see what has been added. This gardener has a small yard and it looks like every patch is used.
The boulevard has some vegetable garden.
They must not have babies at their house any more.
Perhaps the teens are growing up too.
Doesn't look like the RV gets used for camping any more, so why not use it for a garden.
I love seeing what this gardener does.

What's Blooming

Just thought you would like to see what is blooming in my garden today. I just spent the morning trimming and watering and taking in God's energy. There isn't any place like it for me. I can come up with some creative sewing projects, but God has some better ones here.

Workshop with Natasha Foucault

Attended a workshop with Natasha Foucault who is from Russia. Her garments are wonderful.
She had us iron freezer paper on the back of a scarf, so we didn't need to use a frame. We also used green label dyes, so we didn't have to steam. The dyes do not come out as bright as when you use the French dyes and steam. As you can see I tried my house sketch again.

The Results Are In

These are my fourth yards done in gradiations from Fire Red to Rust Orange.
This is my yard. It has too much white for me, so stay tuned while I over dye.

Color Gradation

A group of women joined me in a class and we learned Two Color, Six-Step Gradation. Today we will be washing out our fabrics and getting to see the results. I will be posting mine soon.

Silk Painting

I have been working on some samples to take to the silk painting conference next month in Santa Fe. I have been trying out this new gutta from New Zealand which you use as a resist. I mixed dyes into the resist and I like the way they turned out.

I went with a friend last Friday to the De Young Museum in San Fransico. I looked for inspiration to incorporate into my garments. Most of the garments were not what we would wear down the street. This one I liked and will have to collect a few blue jeans to get started. If you are local I would encourage you to go see the display.

The use of big buttons were something I could see on my garments.
 More buttons.
This one was amazing as you got up close you realized that it was all done with beads. I am a beader, but this would take way longer then I would want to spend.
Some more big buttons.
