Now that the growing season is back in California I am spending a lot of time in the garden.
This year there are apples on the apple tree. This is a clematis that I am going to plant. Here is another. One more. Glads and poppies going big right now.
One of the women decided to have a chicken party. Here are all the chickens displayed.
We were suppose to wear feathers to the party. One of the women decorated this hat for her husband to wear to the party. Here is a picture of the chickens with four of the women who made chickens. One of the women's husband has this red sports car and thought it would make a perfect presentation of the chickens.
I attended a workshop learning Trapanto a while ago. I decided to make six place mats and napkins for a niece's wedding. It took a lot longer then I thought it would. It is a lot of work. My idea is that I would like to make a jacket with Trapanto on it and this was a good way to practice. I have a nephew who is getting married in September so I am going to make one more set and then I will be ready for a jacket.
This is a jacket pattern that I made smaller so it could be a shirt. The fabric is a wonderful vintage cotton which has a nice sheen to it and then I added hand dyed sateen cotton to it.
Here you can see the label I included on the yoke of the shirt.
This chicken makes you laugh just to look at it. A group of women from American Sewing Guild decided to make this chicken. I was not sure what I was going to do with it, but I think it will be a great conversation piece.
I like the way this one turned out. The poke a dot silk that I had added to the shirt. You would never know it used to be a man's shirt. Another thrift store one.
