Undershirts

I dyed a couple of silk shirts from Dharma. I like to wear these shirts under my clothes when it gets cold. Having them in different colors makes it fun when they show above my outer clothes. I have several dyed to the colors that I usually wear.

More Hand dyed Fabrics

Just putting more of my hand dyed fabric in my esty shop. This one is cotton sateen which is my favorite fabric to dye. It takes the color so well and it is vibrant. If you have never touched this fabric, you are in for a real joy.

The Results Are In

These are my fourth yards done in gradiations from Fire Red to Rust Orange.
This is my yard. It has too much white for me, so stay tuned while I over dye.

Color Gradation

A group of women joined me in a class and we learned Two Color, Six-Step Gradation. Today we will be washing out our fabrics and getting to see the results. I will be posting mine soon.

New shirt

This is another one of those t shirts that I dyed by wrapping around a large nylon rope. I used vintage buttons and some stripes from the shirt to decorate it. It would be a good shirt for layering.
This is the back of the shirt. I think the rope creates a neat effect.

it is ice? The Quilting Arts Magazine had a article by Carol Ludington on dyeing with ice.

Tank Top

I have been working on some decorative shirts. This one was dyed with procion dye wrapped around a rope and that is what created the design. The colors are black and wine red. I have made roses, sewed on lace trim and vintage buttons and attached a small piece of tulle under the roses. There is a small tuck on the side held with a small rose. The center back length measures 22 1/2" and the bust line measures 41". It would like nice in a layered look. You can click on the photos for more detail.
It is for sale. Email me at mcbainj@comcast.net if interested.

Another set of placemats

This one the darker color and the center is from a sheet. After my class we put all of the left over dye on it. Turned out really nice. The center is printed with a block that I made.

More Placemats

I am making some more placemats for my nieces and nephews for wedding gifts. I have a brother and then a sister that each have six children. They are of the marrying age. One just got married and then I thought I would work ahead.
These are some vintage napkins that I dyed to go with the placemats.
These are done with some of my dyed fabrics and soy wax. The green one I also used oatmeal for resist.
This is the back.
This is a set with commercial fabrics.

New Scarves

I am busy making scarves to sell at the Harvest Festival in Paso Robles at the Vina Robles Gallery.
I silk screened the left one with apples and dyed it with procion dye. The one on the right was dyed with procion dye as well and clapped with a circle while dyeing. I added some dyed lace to the bottom of the scarf.

Demo turning out

Did a demo using procion dye with silk in a plastic glass for my class. I love the way it turned out. I did four more pieces tonight, so I would have some to make something out of in the future.

Dyeing Fabric Today

We had fun in class today. My student Jean is ironing her scarf and putting on the final touches for the final showing.
Emily is admiring the unveiling.
And Jean looks happy with the results. She tyed some glass stones with string in her scarf before she added the dye. Totally cool results Jean.

New Shirt

Really been enjoying this pattern of a big shirt. This is a kimono that I bought at a sale for three dollars It was cream with orange flowers and green leaves. I over dyed with red wine. Then I ripped it a part and pieced it back together for the blouse. I used black thread for hand stitching and black sequins, beads and covered buttons.
