I was so inspired that the creative wheels haven't stopped. I worked on this shirt tonight and put on the sleeves and thinking of what to do next. I was off to the fabric store today looking at all of her patterns and looking at fabric that was like what she used in her samples. She taught me a better understanding of working with knits. Knits have been around for a long time. They keep improving them. The addition of lycra really adds a new dimension. Marcy made it look so easy. Of course, there is experience behind those easy steps.

Marcy Tilton Workshop

This weekend I drove down to LA to attend my wearable art connection meeting and was blessed to attend Marcy Tilton's Workshop. I think we connected because we are both from St. Paul, Minnesota. It was so inspiring and she filled our heads with so much information.

This is one of the T shirts that I screened.

This is the back of a screened shirt.
The front of a screened shirt. She showed us how to cut the sleeves off and add complimentary fabric sleeves. I haven't completed that part yet, but have laid the material so you could in vision how it is going to look.
These are the patterns I have of Marcy's and will probably spend the summer creating from them with the new techniques I have learned.
Here Marcy is wearing the T shirt that she has cut up and redesigned. She has two different fabrics for sleeves, has screened it and replaced the neck binding and run a cut down the front. She believes that you should look really nice even when you are at home doing the dishes at the sink. So she wears these all the time. She takes a trip to Paris every year to get ideas for her designs.

A New Class

These women took on the challenge of blue gel glue and thicken procion dye.

It will quite fun to see how this comes out.

Our next class is tye dyeing shirts for our children, husbands or grandchildren. I know my grandchildren sure like their shirts. It will be July 10th. Are you interested? Come join the fun?

More of the finished product

This one was the most fun. After dyeing the fabric I used fabrico stamp pads and used letter stamps, toilet paper roll, and a half of a coconut shell.
This one was silk screened over the dyed fabric.

Dyed each of these pieces first and then screened over them afterwards.
This one I tied bottle caps into the fabric and then dyed with New Black and then after that I dyed it with cobalt blue. The black makes some very interesting colors.

Enjoying Kentucky

Walking up this trail of three miles through the woods and enjoying the wild flowers brought great peace.
