Gardening Today

Today is gardening day. It is overcast, at least, for now and so it won't be too hot.
I bought a mulberry tree yesterday and it is going to be planted up on the hill behind me. Do you see that great Minnesota shirt?
The grapevines I had to move for my new trellis are coming along, but I don't think there will be grapes this year. In front of the grape is also a purple Wisteria which will bloom in the spring across the front of the trellis.
Yesterday I bought a bail of hay to try out planting potatoes in next year. You can see up behind me that I have cleared a bunch of weeds and have reseeded the grass to get that to come back in. It holds the sand on the hill really well.
This is a wonderful white rose that just loves to bloom in my yard. To my left side is a brass sun dial I found at a estate sale. Polished it up and it looks like new.
The boysenberries are coming. It will be a couple more weeks and they will be ready to make boysenberry cobbler with ice cream on top. My son always comes over for that event. See you later. I am off to the gardening for the day. Hope you are having a wonderful day too.

Enjoying

It is our 24th wedding anniversary tomorrow. My husband got on the internet and looked for a French Restaurant. Here it is in Santa Barbara. Stella Mare's.

I bet you thought we were in Paris again. I wore my Paris shirt and the place had the look of Paris.
This was my husbands short ribs with vegetables.
My scallops setting on lobster cakes and then on a dab of mashed sweet potatoes.
 My husbands lemon curd cake.
My four pieces of French chocolates. What a fun way to celebrate our day. We sat and told each other of things we remembered of our trip together and then I my trip with a friend.

So Excited

As you can see I am beginning to load back my fabric and sewing supplies into my storage unit in my sewing room. It just makes your hands and body feel so good to touch that fabric and begin to dream of what you will make out of each and every piece of fabric. It is so wonderful to unload the white plastic bags from the garage and back into their proper place. I am cleaning out at the same time. It is helpful to go through everything to remember what you have and begin to create again. I am hoping that the sewing room won't take too long to get up and running again. I have some mending that needs addressing, but I only have one bra that can be worn, so making some new ones will be the first project. I hope I remember. It seems so long ago. I suspect my sewing machines will be so happy not to be covered any more and see the light and begin working again. Can you image if they could talk what they would be saying right now?

Cactus

Just wanted to share with you a beautiful cactus that my neighbor gave me for Mother's Day. It is fun to have someone that enjoys plants as much as I do. We look at our new blooms on our plants some mornings together. This is a common cactus, but I have never seen it in bloom. Being from the midwest I didn't have much exposure to cactus until I moved here. They didn't look very interesting until I realized that they bloom and so beautiful.

Gardening

These are the latest in my garden. Then to show you the flooring is in the house. A grasshopper to celebrate to be able to move back into the house on Wednesday.

Moving Forward

Things are moving forward. The hole is made in the wall where the sliding glass door is going. The two windows that were there are gone.

The livingroom and diningroom are cleared for painting and new flooring.
Outside it is boarded up for now.

Travel

We had enough of house projects, so we took a day trip. We drove to the bus terminal in Santa Maria. Took the bus to Guadeloupe for the train. Took the train to San Luis Obispo. We had lunch at new restaurant to us. Then the bus back to Santa Maria. It was a beautiful day. You always see so much more when you are riding the bus or train and not driving.
Back to house projects tomorrow. We have to move all of the office and computer parts, so the painter can do his job. We are happy with the new colors that were chosen for the two bedrooms. The carpets in the bedrooms and vinyl in the bathrooms are in. Things just keep getting moved around. It is going to be a real job to getting everything back to the right rooms and put away. I can see that this will be a good time to move on and throw away. Not fabric though. My husband keeps saying that I will help you throw away your stuff when I mention that he will need to go through his things. Should be interesting for a pac rat.
