More Placemats

I am making some more placemats for my nieces and nephews for wedding gifts. I have a brother and then a sister that each have six children. They are of the marrying age. One just got married and then I thought I would work ahead.
These are some vintage napkins that I dyed to go with the placemats.
These are done with some of my dyed fabrics and soy wax. The green one I also used oatmeal for resist.
This is the back.
This is a set with commercial fabrics.

New Hat For Me

I attended a workshop with Wayne Wickem from Redwood, CA. These are some of the hats that he brought to share with us.

This is the hat I decorated. Wayne blocked the hats for us and then we decorated the one that we chose.

Additive Flowers

I have come up with more flower pins. This time I had a wool sweater which I felted and cut pieces to make the center and the tails that decorate it. Then I know that poka dots seem to be in this year, so I had a few pieces of silk that I gathered around the center to make a flower. I added a few beads and sequins on the center on the flower as well.

Beading

You can see that I have switched from my usual creations. I haven't beaded for awhile and have collected so many beautiful beads. It feels good to work in the detail it takes to bead. I have never beaded a collar before. It is labor intense. It took three weeks of about three to four hours most days. The design is free form. I created the earings to match. I am working on another one now and will be showing that when it is finished.

Our dress up tea

The wearable art group that I lead for ASG came to my house for a dress up tea.
Cheryl knit a dish cloth for each of us.
We exchanged gifts that we had made and had show and tell which we really enjoy. We always learn from each other.
Edie looks just wonderful.
We shared treats and teas.

More thoughts about Paris

I continue to think of my experiences in Paris. I have begun to look around to see if I can find anything here that is from France along the lines of food. I found the French butter that I ate there. I have also found a box of cookies, some wine and some cheeses. The food impressed me and I wasn't ready to let go of the experience yet. So now I can continue for awhile longer.
I often think of the sights that I saw there and am still trying to digest them. This was a interesting window display. Some nice large buttons on this jacket.
The middle hat is the one that I bought. It is a warm hat, so I won't get a lot of use of it here. This was a common style of hat woren there and then a nice long scarf around the neck.
I thought this was a pretty interesting jacket. Pretty busy looking.
