I took a online classes with Shibori Girl and this is the process that I followed in making mandalas.
This is tyeing with dental floss.
This is another piece that I sewed a design in the fabric first.
These are the tyed mandalas.
On the very end I clapped some large washers.
Used some syringes to inject the dyes into the fabric.
These are the finished mandalas. It is interesting. I tyed all of them the same. The difference is how tight I tyed the dental floss.
These are the pieces which I sewed circles for design.
I had ripped a old vintage light weight linen kimono apart and these are the rest of the pieces dyed.
I am busy thinking through how to use this for a garment. I think the mandalas will be placed on the sleeves and the circles will go on each front and the rest will be the filler for a long light weight shirt. I ususally have to think about this for a while to get the vision of how the garment is going to look. I am thinking of pin tucking between the two lines of circles. Maybe a couple of rows. What do you think? What would you use this fabric for?
