Some more for the Trip

I added a skirt to wear under the Tina Given top. Found a silk scarf that I had to wear with it.

I just added a 13" wide piece of fabric to a a cotton tank that I found at Target.

I made this top out of a piece of silk that I dyed and stenciled on.

This was a vintage silk piece that I got at the estate sale. It is light weight and be good for the weather I expect in South America.

This is a piece of silk velvet that was just enough for this jacket.

The pants I made out of a linen. I like the pockets on each leg. I cropped the pants.

More Clothes for the Trip

I found this old pattern at the Goodwill and it fits the kind of shorts I would like.

I made them out of some linen I had.

 Drawstring waist.

I wanted some crop pants and I think these will be nice and colorful.

Elastic only at the top of the waist band.
Some detail on one leg and a cuff.

Getting Ready for a Trip

I will be going on the Panama Canal Cruise in three weeks and made another version of Tina Given's top to take along. It will make a good swimming cover up.
I had a vintage linen guest towel that had some beautiful crocheted trim that I included on each sleeve. Click on the picture and you will get a better view.
Then I made this top and pants.
The pattern for the the top wasn't designed for a knit, but it worked well. You can see  that the back is longer then the front. I didn't make it quite as long as I didn't have enough fabric. I think it is long enough for me as is.

These pants I really like. The back slit is very different and becoming.

The color didn't photograph well, but is the same pants. It has a elastic waist.
The detail on the bottom back of each leg.

I have more to show you. It has been quite fun sewing several outfits.

Tina Givens Top

Went up to my friend Nancy's in Vancouver Washington. We shopped in Portland and found this Japanese gauze. I had never sewed with it before and it went quite well. We both eyed this Tina Given pattern and decided to spend a day sewing together. She had another fabric to make her top and we had a great time sewing together.

I cut off the shaggy edge of the selvage and placed it in the seam between the bodice and sleeve. Gave a nice detail.
This was the label that I made for the back at the neck on the outside just below the collar. I included some of the selvage in the label.
This was the first time I have sewn with a Tina Given pattern. I learned that the directions are not for a beginner. The directions are very sketchy.

Marcy's Jacket

Enjoyed making this jacket. I was gifted this beautiful silk satin fabric from China. I have been saving it for a special project.

I have seen this pattern done up in other fabrics, so I think you can change the jackets personality very easily.
I was able to use this trim I picked up in Paris along the inside facing.

I used hong kong seam finishing. This fabric had a beautiful wrong side finish as well. So not lining it showed that off.
