Diane Ericson's Skirt Pattern

This is the Taos Skirt. I had a piece of home deco fabric that I have had for a long time. I had to add some black batiste underlining as you could see through the fabric. I was delighted to see that a beaded silk blouse and a wonderful belt from estate sale shopping went very well to complete the outfit. I am off to Minnesota on Monday to go to my niece's wedding. The fabric started out to be a jacket and then I didn't have enough, and then it was going to be a pair of pants and then it was enough for this skirt. I am happy with how it turned out.

Sweater

This is a old pattern that I have been saving liking the style of the sweater.
I got the fabric at a estate sale and dyed it. Not sure of the content, some cotton. I turned the facing to the outside and it makes a nice trim. Unusual buttons from Joann's.
Then I found the vintage lace and tucking at a thrift store. I dyed them to match.
I really like the way this turned out and plan on making another one soon.

Outside the Lines

I attended the Outside of the lines Retreat in Santa Barbara last week. It was so inspiring. The women that attended were all gifted. We learned a great deal from Diane Ericsson and Karen Nicol. Karen was from England and did unbelievable embroidery.
Sue Keys dyed us each a purse which we added some stenciling to.
One of our Canadian students made each one of us a scissor holder.
Then we got into necklaces. I used some knit fabric selvages that I had cut off when I was making garments. This one has a couple of old buttons.
This one has three buttons that are covered with knit fabric.
Then I began to work on a linen man's shirt. Diane had me cut open the sides of the shirt and then I began to add some fabric trim. I cut down the collar. A lot more to go yet.

We stenciled on some of our fabric pieces.

Diane makes up several pieces first and then designs them into her garments.

This is some selvedges that I stenciled to use for trim. Diane gave us a lot to think about and use in our creative processes.

Flowers

The rain is coming tonight, so went out and picked all the flowers blooming as the rain usually damages the blooms. Happy for rain and I can enjoy the blooms inside.
